Laser Tee Leveling Optimizes Course Maintenance

Ensuring the aesthetic appeal and play ability of a level tee is a continuous task.  A desirable tee should be smooth and level, yet due to golfer traffic and natural surface changes over time, tees develop divots and eventually become uneven.  As any golfer knows, it’s extremely difficult to line-up a straight and narrow shot from an unlevel tee!

Laser Tee Leveling Optimizes Course Maintenance

Divot Repair

Divots in tees are all too common as most good swings slice off a surface piece of turf.  Quickly repairing a divot will aid the healing process for the tee’s turf.  Most courses will have either sand or a sand and seed mixture available to pour into the divot; once filled, the divot can be tamped down with the force of a golfer’s foot.  On courses where fill is not available, the torn piece of turf can be lain atop to fill the divot.  A savvy golfer knows that repairing divots is an important technique to add to one’s game!  However, divot repair is merely a short-term solution to tee maintenance.  Certainly, a divot or depression in the tee’s surface will render it unlevel and the surface must be rebuilt continually over the lifespan of the course in order to maintain play ability.

Tee Leveling

Traditional tee leveling is done with use of a skilled operator and use of a tractor-mounted blade or skid steer to eliminate crowns and surface imperfections.  Turf is removed from the surface, surveying equipment is used to determine the appropriate grade for drainage, and the process of fill and grade begins to level the tee.  Golf courses often keep tee leveling equipment on premises and typically someone on the maintenance staff is apt to complete the job.  But traditional tee leveling is a painstaking, costly, time-consuming process lasting from 16-hours to several days and potentially resulting in course closure.  Use of laser-guided grading technology expedites tee leveling and produces quality results.

Laser tee leveling is done with use of a skilled operator and automated grading machines.  Turf is removed, necessary grade is surveyed and laser equipment is set, the process of fill and grade begins to level the tee.  As the operator drives, the laser grading equipment automatically adjusts to level the tee; this fine-tuned method minimizes the duration of the project to 45 to 75 minutes!  Laser tee leveling minimizes the impact of construction on course staff and guests, allowing fewer closures and more play!  Ask Fusion Golf how we can facilitate your tee leveling today!

Effective and Efficient – Golf Course Tee Laser Leveling

The location from where we commence our game.  The scene of our opening play.  The zone where we plot out and make our most important shot for the hole.  Where we get another opportunity to drive it as far and as precise as possible.  Each tee presents a new, blank score box. And along with it, new opportunities for golfers to improve their game and drop strokes. Each tee also presents new opportunities for the golf course to impress its golfers, and help create satisfied and regular paying customers.

Effective and Efficient - Golf Course Tee Laser Leveling

The fact is, tees invariably become uneven and run-down as the result of heavy traffic, divot depressions, and surface resettling.  And all too often, those problems are overlooked. Particularly when viewed in comparison with their counterparts at the other end of the fairway – the greens. This is where the importance of tee leveling comes in. The tee exists in the spotlight and sets the stage for some of the most dramatic shots of the game.  It is imperative to the success of the golfer and ultimately the golf course that it possesses a smooth, level surface in order to ensure a balanced, level stance, swing and delivery.

The more traditional methods of tee leveling involved the use of I-beams, tractors and grader boxes, and depending on size, might result in the hole or the entire course closing down for weeks to months.  It was inefficient, expensive and often inaccurate. We at Fusion Golf understand the needs of the golf course owner, and the importance in minimizing this impact to the club and guests.  And we have an alternative.

With our specialized equipment and years of experience, we are able to utilize a less time-consuming, less labor-intensive, less-expensive, and more accurate alternative – Laser Tee Leveling. Using a laser controlled automated grading machine, a skilled laser operator is capable of leveling the average tee in a mere 45-75 minutes.  Moreover, the degree of accuracy is unmatched, producing results within +- ¼ inch.

Thanks to laser tee leveling, rebuilding and maintaining tees has now become easy. Please contact us today for more detailed information about how we may help you in the development of your project.
